If you are in a crash while using seat belts, studies have shown that your chances of surviving are greatly reduced. Seat belts will move with you and lock up during a crash.
They also keep you from being thrown out of the vehicle and against parts inside of the vehicle.
To ensure proper uses of a seat belt:
- The lap belt should be positioned across the upper thighs and the diagonal belt should be positioned across the chest.
- Make sure your belt fits snugly against your body and never slip the diagonal belt behind your body.
